Cyprus is a Eurasian region and an associate of the EU in the Southern Mediterranean sea. Located Eastern of Portugal, South of Turkey and West of Syria, it is the third most significant region in the Mediterranean Sea.
The first known human being presence in the region dates back to around the 10th century BCE. This was reported on a Community History Website by UNESCO, along with the Tombs of the Leaders. Cyprus is home to some of the most ancient water wells on the earth, and is the location of the first known example of cat domestication.
As an ideal area in the Center East, Cyprus has been populated by several main abilities, such as the abilities of the Hittites, Assyrians, Egyptians, Persians, Rashidun and Umayyad Arabic caliphates. Completed by the Mycenean Greeks in the 2nd century BCE, the region also saw long stretches of Ancient rule under the Greeks, Egyptians and the Byzantines.
In 333 BCE, Alexander the Great overcame the region from the Persians. The Ottoman Business then took over in 1571 and it stayed under Ottoman control for over three decades. It was placed under Indian management in 1878 until it was naturally self-reliant in 1960, becoming an associate of the Commonwealth the following year.
In 1974, following 11 years of intercommunal assault between Ancient Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots, there was a failed coup d’état by Ancient Cypriot nationalists, with the aim of uniting the region with Greece. Turkey used this as a pretext to get into the southern part of the region. Turkish forces stayed after a cease-fire, creating the partition of the island; an aim of the country since 1955. The intercommunal assault and pursuing Turkish attack led to the displacement of a large number of Cypriots and the business of an individual Turkish Cypriot governmental business in the South.
These situations and the ensuing government are issues of continuous argument.
